I wanted to add some more boards to my game, and seein’ as how the acrylic I was pulling out of flat-screens was piling up, I decided to give it a try.
The first one I just cut out of the acrylic. I used acrylic weld to secure the pieces. In hindsight, it would have been easier to use glue.
For the second one, I tried an experiment. The idea was to put several layers of black acrylic paint on the sheet then a few layers of white paint. Then I used an image of marble and used the laser cutter to etch the pattern, theoretically etching away some of the white paint to reveal some black below. After that, I put several coats of gloss sealer on top. The results were less than spectacular.
Unfortunately, when I was cutting the channels for the walls, something shifted for the final cut and I ended up with shadows of the square lines and the treasures, but it’ll work.
I used 527 craft glue to assemble the pieces and it worked just fine.
